Francois Lamothe
Etchings
Francois has been drawing for most of his 78 years. After decades of working in pastels, oils, and acrylics, he has returned to a form that combines history, precision, and craftsmanship: etching in the tradition of scrimshaw.
Historically, scrimshaw was practiced by mariners, especially whalers, who etched images into bone or ivory during long voyages at sea. Francois uses many of the same classical techniques, but instead of ivory, he works on recycled Corian, a countertop material salvaged from sink cut-outs by a local contractor.

Just Us Chickens Artist Cooperative (JUC) is a vibrant, member-run shop located in Kittery, Maine, showcasing the work of over thirty local artists and craftspeople. Our mission is to support and promote our artists and the local community, while offering a memorable shopping experience for our visitors

Guest Artists
In 2014, we launched our Guest Artist Program, which runs each year from March to October. This program offers local artists a chance to participate in our Coop for one month, providing them with an affordable way to display and sell their artwork.
